3. Section Reports

North Section – North Devon Congress is cancelled but we are planning to play it online. It will on the same dates 27 and 28 February 2021 as a Blue Pointed event; Saturday afternoon and evening Pairs, Sunday afternoon and evening Teams. Platform - either BBO or possibly RealBridge depending on experience at John Woolcott in January.

East Section – Planning to run the John Woolcott as a Pairs event using the Real Bridge platform (to be confirmed in the next few weeks). Regarding a question about Gypsy Hill there has been an offer for a return by owner but obviously not possible in the near future.

County events – GC said the Devon Congress is cancelled and again we are planning to run the event online on a similar format to the North Devon Congress with 2 sessions separated by a 1 hour break. Pairs Saturday, Teams Sunday (10th and 11th April 2021).

4. Online Sub-Committee

Minutes from the previous online-subcommittee meeting will be available on the DBA website following the 11 November meeting. Jacqui and Neil attended an EBU Online Bridge discussion. From the meeting it appeared that we are taking actions similar to other counties around encouraging online bridge activity.

6. Inter-County Teams

We discussed Andrew L’s County Fixtures report. Andrew was thanked for his work in setting up a schedule of County friendlies. It has been a valuable initiative encouraging members to get involved with online play for their county. We acknowledged his announcement to stand down at the end of this year from his involvement with County arrangements and Western League. JM asked if his network of contacts could be made available so we can continue to arrange county matches next year.

7. Any Other Business

EBED have doubled the price for new teacher enrollment. Although not till next April JH asked if the DBA could play towards the extra cost of bridge teaching.

The committee agreed to continue paying for the Zoom subscription at the cost of £14.39 per month.

Meeting ended 6.30pm.

9. Date of Next meeting
