Devon Club Teams-of-Eight Championship 2025

A one-day two session teams-of-eight event for Devon clubs.  The winning team will be eligible to represent Devon in the EBU Garden Cities Trophy.

On RealBridge starting at 1100, 2026 date TBA.

Entry

The closing date is TBA.

Any team of eight players from the same club may enter and there is no limit on the number of teams from each club.

Eligibility

EBU rules for the Garden Cities Trophy will apply. Players must have been members of the club for at least three months immediately prior to the closing date for entry to the county competition. Moreover, players must play regularly at the club or for the club, or contribute regularly in some other way, or have met this criterion in previous years, yet be unable to currently do so through some personal circumstance (eg illness, work, childcare, etc). Please note, this competition will not go ahead unless at least four teams sign up to play.

Format

• A two-session teams competition with all teams playing as many of the other teams as is possible
• Approximately 24 boards a session starting at 11am with a break of approximately one hour between sessions
• The winning club team will go on to represent Devon in the Garden Cities Trophy

The tournament director reserves the right to alter the format as and when necessary.

EBU Garden Cities Trophy

The winning club team will go on to represent Devon in the EBU Garden Cities Trophy. Regional finals will take place in May at various locations, and the National finals will take place in June. 

The DBA will pay the entry fee for the EBU Garden Cities Trophy and reasonable travel expenses.

2024 

Torquay Club (Alex Maddocks, Jacek Pietrzycki, Mike Walsh, David Strawbridge, Ian Walsh, Mike Orriel, Margaret Munday, Ian Munday) represented Devon in the EBU Garden Cities Trophy.
