Devon Club Teams-of-Eight Championship 2024

A one-day two session teams-of-eight event for Devon clubs.  The winning team will be eligible to represent Devon in the EBU Garden Cities Trophy competition.

As Torquay Bridge Club were the only entry for 2024, they are the winners by default and will represent Devon in the regional final of the Garden Cities Trophy competition on May 11, 2024 in Bristol.

When and Where

Sunday 4th February 2024 on RealBridge starting at 1100.

Entry

The closing date is Friday 26th January 2024 at 5pm.

Any team of eight players from the same club may enter and there is no limit on the number of teams from each club.

The entry fee of £50 per team should be paid by Bank Transfer:

Eligibility

EBU rules for the Garden Cities competition will apply. Players must have been members of the club for at least three months immediately prior to the closing date for entry to the county competition. Moreover, players must play regularly at the club or for the club, or contribute regularly in some other way, or have met this criterion in previous years, yet be unable to currently do so through some personal circumstance (eg illness, work, childcare, etc). Please note, this competition will not go ahead unless at least four teams sign up to play.

Format

  • A two-session teams competition with all teams playing as many of the other teams as is possible
  • Approximately 24 boards a session starting at 11am with a break of approximately one hour between sessions
  • The winning club team will go on to represent Devon in the Garden Cities competition

The tournament director reserves the right to alter the format as and when necessary.

EBU Garden Cities Competition

The winning club team will go on to represent Devon in the EBU Garden Cities competition. Regional finals will take place on Saturday 11th May 2024 at various locations, and the National finals will take place on Saturday 15th June 2024. Locations have yet to be decided.

The DBA will pay the entry fee for the Garden Cities competition and meet reasonable travel expenses.
