Who is it for?

We are holding a friendly, all-day Bridge event aimed at players who:

• Have recently (in the last year or so) started playing duplicate bridge in a club, or are thinking of doing so soon,
• Have the basics of duplicate Bridge under their belt and play a simple bidding system, and
• Can play without constantly needing to refer to their notes

• Sunday, October 20, 2024
• 11am start, finishing by 5pm
• Victoria Park Club, Lyndhurst Rd, Exeter, EX2 4NX

Details:    

The competition will consist of five rounds of 5 boards each. We will allow up to an hour for each set of 5 boards so there is no time pressure. Lunch will be served after two rounds at 1pm.

The format will be Swiss Pairs. If you don’t know what that means, don’t worry. It doesn’t change how you play, it just matches you with suitable opponents.

Since this is a competition, there needs to be a level playing field regarding notes and advice. However, we do recognise that some players may not yet be past the stage of checking notes or asking for help.

Therefore, you will not be allowed to refer to your notes but you may ask for help. You will not be told what to do, nor will you be given direct advice, but you will get a pointer or two to help you find your way forward. The extent of this will be entirely at the discretion of the director.

There is a limit on entrants of 40 players (first come, first served) so please sign up as soon as possible.

You are encouraged to enter with a partner. However, if you do not have a partner, we will match you with another player of similar experience.
